Our current series, Ducks in a Row, is all about helping students align their lives—faith, priorities, and habits—with God’s purpose. But as parents, you might wonder: How do I help my teen do that without adding pressure or stress?

The good news is that discipling teens at home doesn’t require perfection—it requires intentionality and rhythms. Here are three practical ways to help your teen get their “ducks in a row”:

  1. Make Faith Visible Every Day
Teens learn by seeing faith in action. Leave a Bible on the kitchen table, talk about what God is teaching you, or pray aloud together. Simple, consistent practices help faith move from church into daily life.

  2. Create Small Daily Rhythms
Instead of long, rigid devotions, try easy daily habits:

    • Ask, “What was one good thing and one hard thing today?”

    • Ask, “Where did you see God today?”
These take under five minutes but teach teens reflection, gratitude, and dependence on God.

  3. Encourage Ownership
Let your teen lead small moments: prayer at dinner, picking a worship song, or sharing a scripture. Teen-led faith experiences build confidence and internalize spiritual habits.

Why it matters:
Life is messy, and teens are learning how to navigate competing priorities. By creating simple rhythms, encouraging ownership, and modeling faithful habits, you help your student practice following Jesus consistently. These daily choices, not perfection, shape a lifelong faith.

Tip for Parents:
Start small. Pick one rhythm this week—maybe a short prayer before school or a two-minute reflection at dinner—and build from there. The goal isn’t perfection; it’s intentional alignment with God in everyday life.

By partnering with your teen at home, you reinforce what they’re learning in Ducks in a Row, helping them grow into disciples who prioritize Jesus in every part of their life.
