What We Believe

At Fort Scott Church of the Nazarene we believe that Jesus Christ, God's only Son, desires a relationship with everyone.  We believe He wants to give all of humanity a new beginning and bring forgiveness, healing, hope and purpose to our lives through the work of the Holy Spirit.  We believe that the Bible is the source for truth about God and his plan for all people.

Our hope for you is that you wouldn't just find a service to attend, but a place to belong and to see God do more in your life than you ever thought possible.  We believe that happens when we regularly prioritize three things.  We want to:

Encounter God through regular worship with our church family.  Encountering God is not limited to being in a church.  But something powerful happens when we're together for worship and experience the joy of being part of something bigger than ourselves.

Pursue Jesus by learning to build spiritual habits into daily life.  Being part of worship is awesome!  But if we're just living Sunday to Sunday, that is not sustainable.  We need regular daily habits and relationships that continually point us back to Jesus.

Make an Impact by living out the truth we find when we pursue Jesus.  Jesus teaches us and the Holy Spirit empowers us to love people well.  When we allow God to transform us into people of love and action, people around us will encounter Him too.
